How to Make Your Skincare Routine Vegan Friendly
Are you looking for a 5 x step Vegan skincare routine for a radiant complexion?
Carry on reading and we will take you through the basics of Vegan skincare and provide you with an easy to follow 5 x step routine for achieving a glowing complexion.
Step 1 - CLEANSE
The first step to any good skincare routine is cleansing. For a Vegan skincare routine, it’s best to use natural cleansers, as they tend to be more gentle on the skin and are free from harmful toxins that can be absorbed through your pores. Look out for Vegan skincare brands that offer cleansers that are free from chemicals, parabens, and additives! A great Vegan cleanser option is to use a natural face oil which is one of the most effective facial cleansers. A cleansing oil has a mositurising effect whilst you are cleansing, so is super gentle and avoids stripping the skins natural balance.
You might like to try our award winning Purity Cleansing Oil which contains a blend of natural cleansing base oils, along with Lemon Essential Oil. This therapeutic oil has a clarifying effect and when combined with a hot muslin cloth, really gets deep into the pores, helping to remove all makeup and dirt without actually stripping your skin. Alternatively you could use a few drops of pure jojoba oil or sweet almond oil, both of these will gently cleanse the skin without drying it out.
Step 2 - FACE MASK
Once you have a beautifully clean face and clean skin, you are ready for the next step, a clarifying mask. We believe that a weekly pink clay mask can be a great addition to anyone's skincare routine. Pink clay is rich in natural minerals like iron and zinc and these minerals not only help to detoxify the skin but they also help to reduce inflammation and redness. The clay helps to draw out impurities, by removing dirt and bacteria and it also helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
By gently exfoliating with a product like our 360 Botanics Pink Clay Mask, which is activated with a little soy milk or agave syrup, you can really clarify the skin, revealing a brighter, smoother complexion. In addition, the mask will help to restore moisture to the skin, balancing its pH levels and leaving you with super soft and supple skin. All of these benefits make a pink clay mask a natural winner for anyone who wants to improve the look and feel of their skin.
Step 3 - EXFOLIATE
Exfoliation is an important step to help remove dead skin cells and leave your skin feeling smooth and alive! To keep it Vegan, look for a natural exfoliator, a gentle sugar-based one like 360 Botanics award winning Sorbet Facial Polish, or a gentle oat scrub, which you can make yourself at home. However it’s best to use an exfoliator no more than once or twice a week. Your skin will feel so smooth and fresh after this step, all primed and ready for Step 4!
Step 4 - TONE
Toning is an important step to help balance the pH of your skin and remove any residue left over from the previous cleansing, mask or exfoliation steps. Most vegan toners are alcohol-free and can help to soothe and refresh your skin. A spritz of our Rose Radiant Facial Mist on a cotton pad will do the trick!
This toner contains skin balancing essential oils along with green tea extract, well known as a powerful antioxidant which can help to protect the skin from environmental stressors and decrease the appearance of wrinkles, improve skin clarity and texture, and reduce redness.
Step 5 - MOISTURISE (& Sunscreen!)
Moisturising is an essential step to keep your skin hydrated and healthy. Look out for a Vegan moisturiser that is free from harsh chemicals and a long list of incomprehensible ingredients….! For a homemade approach you can use a few drops of coconut oil, jojoba oil or even olive oil. To really treat your skin use a few drops of a natural facial serum.
You could try our 360 Botanics iconic Super Serum, a lightweight yet powerful vegan face serum that is packed full of nourishing base oils; peach kernel and jojoba, along with healing Benzoin and Frankincense essential oils. You can use Super Serum both at night and in the morning under your sunscreen and make-up.
Finally, make sure you apply sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days. Look for a vegan sunscreen that is free of parabens, fragrance, and other harsh chemicals. We like to use at least spf 30 in the winter months and spf 50 as soon as the sun starts to shine!
And that’s it! By following these five steps, you can easily create a Vegan skincare routine that will give you that healthy, radiant complexion we are all looking for!
